Baptism at St. Matthew’s

Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church. The bond which God establishes in Baptism is indissoluble.

(Book of Common Prayer, p, 298)

At St. Matthew’s, Baptisms take place in the midst of the 10:00 service on several specific dates during the year. An evening of preparation and a rehearsal are required for the parents and godparents of the children being baptized, or the adult being baptized.

The next dates for Holy Baptism at St. Matthew’s are

  • St. Matthew’s Day, September 21, 2014
  • All Saints Sunday, November 2, 2014 and
  • The Baptism of our Lord, January 11, 2015.

If you are interested in baptism for yourself or a member of your family, please talk with one of our clergy or Debbi Rodahaffer, Director of Christian Education.

There is a baptismal preparation class during the week before each date of baptism and we appreciate knowing at least three weeks in advance of baptism if you are planning on baptism for your child.

If you desire baptism for yourself or your child, please contact the Rector or the Director of Christian Education.

Baptisms at St. Matthew’s are held on Sunday mornings as part of our 10 a.m. Eucharist several times throughout the year.
