The Rev. Benjamin Hart

The Rev. Benjamin Hart joins the St. Matthew’s staff starting in May as our Director of Congregational Life. He will be assisting our rector, The Rev. Kelly Kirby, as well as overseeing Pastoral Care and Parish Nurture, tending to worship details, supporting sacramental leaders and overseeing the Newcomers Ministry.

Benjamin joins us from the Grace Episcopal Church in Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where he was the assistant rector.

Benjamin Hart is from Murray, KY where he grew up in St. John’s Episcopal Church. He received a bachelor of fine arts degree in printmaking from Murray State University. After graduating, he served a discernment internship at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Louisville and went on to receive his M.Div. from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA. He has served at Grace since returning from seminary in 2014.

In Hopkinsville, Benjamin helped develop the GraceWorks social enterprise. GraceWorks employs people living in poverty to make handmade items. These individuals work in a safe environment and learn employment skills while being incorporated into a caring community.
