Walking in the Word”
for children in kindergarten through 3rd grade

Children are always welcome ito attend Eucharist with their families, but another option is to send your child to our “Walking in the Word” service, a short program based on the Sunday’s lectionary readings.

Families bring their children into church (“Nave”) for the start of our 10a Eucharist, but shortly after the start of the service, the children will be called to follow lay chaplains out of the Nave into Clingman Chapel for their Walking In the Word service. They will return to the Eucharist at the time of the Peace so they can receive communion with their families.

If it’s your first visit, you may wish to walk with your childen out of the Nave in the Walking In the Word procession so you will know where your child goes during this time.

Two or more adult lay chaplains lead Walking in the Word, and wear nametags to help identify them easily.
