Recently, several ministries have asked me to encourage the parish to consider joining them in their good work. The Altar Guild, Daughters of the King, Brotherhood of St. Andrew and many of our Social Concerns ministries are looking for new people. I have promised a list of ministries in January, and I hope that you will look for that list next week in our eSpirit and weekly printed newsletter on Sunday.
Last week I made a verbal announcement that Mardi Galvin’s position, Parish Administrator, is not funded in the 2015 budget. The position is eliminated as part of the staff restructuring. Mardi will be on vacation through the end of January, and we have offered her severance pay after that. Mardi does have another full time position lined up. I’m thankful for Mardi’s 12 years of service at St. Matthew’s, and per her wishes there will not a farewell event for her. There will be a Fund III letter coming soon.
I am posting 2 new part-time positions: a Director of Communication and a Parish Secretary. The Director of Communication will oversee all of our print and digital communications, including the website. The Parish Secretary will manage the calendar, volunteer reminders and work with our volunteer receptionists.
I am grateful for your prayers for this parish as we live into life together with a balanced budget, and a restructured staff.
