More seniors are coming to our Food Pantry

Our January 2014 Food Pantry served 121 families – a total of 304 people, including 126 children and 62 seniors.

Our Food Pantry director Brian Good says, “The unusual thing about the January Food Pantry was the amount of seniors we served. These were the most seniors ever served by our pantry in one day. To put it in perspective, this Christmas we served about 50 more families than January – and more than double the people than in January – yet we served only 47 seniors — and that was the most seniors ever served at that time. Yet i January we served 62 seniors.”

Are cuts in benefits driving more seniors to food banks? Is word continuing to get out about our Food Pantry? Or was January just an abberation?

We’ll see who comes to our February Food Pantry.

Our February Food Pantry is Saturday, Feb. 15.
