Love wins

Lately, I have been participating in a personal experiment: I smile at strangers as much as possible. It’s amazing the result: Invariably, he/she smiles in return.

The motivation behind this stems from the plethora of hate, controversy and unrest that has been pervasive of late. I want to remember that we are all human; we all have feelings. And yes, this sounds hearts and flowers, but sometimes, we all need some hearts and flowers. We want to be hopeful. We strive for contentment, and ultimately, we strive for love.

I have been reading Cheryl Strayed’s tiny beautiful things: Advice on love and life from Dear Sugar, and thought this quotation incredibly important:

Love is our essential nutrient. Without it, life has little meaning. It’s the best thing we have to give and the most valuable thing we receive.

Often, I post such meaningful sentiments on my computer; this one indeed will have a prominent place.

May we all remember that despite the trials and tribulations that enter our lives, love prevails, love wins.
