Political scientist Robert D. Putnam is the Peter and Isabel Malkin Professor of Public Policy at Harvard. He has written a dozen books, including the best-selling Bowling Alone: The Collapse and Revival of American Community. Putnam’s most recent book, American Grace, focuses on the role of religion in American public life. Putnam is founder of the Saguaro Seminar, bringing together leading thinkers and practitioners to develop actionable ideas for civic renewal.
