‘Conversation on Race & Poverty’ at St. Stephen Sept. 23

Empower West Louisville logo

You are invited to join Kelly Kirby on Wed., Sept. 23 for a conversation on racism and poverty at St. Stephen church. There will be a panel discussion, and opportunities for African American and white Christians to come together for future dialogue, fellowship, and study.

The event starts at 7p. We will gather and carpool from St. Matt’s at 6p.

Our Rector Kelly Kirby writes,

In July, I began meeting weekly with a small group of pastors to see if we could do any good together as brothers and sisters in Christ. We determined that by the grace of God we will come together and work for transformation in the West End of Louisville. We named our effort: EmPowerWest.

All the people in all of our churches are invited to this initial conversation on the 23rd. There will be a panel discussion, and opportunities for African American and white Christians to come together for future dialogue, fellowship, and study.

If you would like to do advance reading to prepare for this conversation, please consider Booker T. Washington’s 1895 Atlanta Compromise Speech. It conveys the tone of this EmPowerWest effort.

Please keep this effort in your prayers.
