Hi all,

Some of us are meeting with Kelly this coming Sunday Nov. 15 at 12:15 ( Conf. Rm. B.)  We’ll have Subway sandwiches for lunch.

This past Sunday we had a good discussion of Bryan Stevenson’s Just Mercy. Moderator Judy Fischer’s handout included a list of relevant court rulings ( read/download here). Linda Ewald , who co- chaired assessment team for the American Bar Association’s Kentucky Death Penalty Assessment Report in 2011, talked about the situation in Kentucky ( read/download a summary of the report here..) When we talked about what we could do locally, Cathy Sutton suggested we help with St. George’s Thanksgiving dinnner. I’ll send a separate email about that.

Our next book is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ Between the World and Me . We’ll discuss it at church on Dec. 6. – 12:15. Please join us.  Ta-Nehisi-Coates is a staff writer for The Atlantic, and you can read more of his articles here. Read  The Black Family in the Age of Mass Incarceration, ( Oct. 2015) and The Case for Reparations (June 2014).
